SPECIAL
PROJECTS 2
The
Faith Mission - Edinburgh
A
glazed atrium measuring 4500 x 4500 metres square of open
glass.
The
project: to supply and install blinds that would be
both serviceable and effective without detracting from the
superb design. The objective was to allow natural light
to flood into this multi-working space throughout the day.
Our
answer: we installed one of our unique zip system, twin-blind
configurations using the FTS Zip system from Shy (UK).
Blind
one: A solar-reflective fabric from Mermet (UK), with
an openness factor of 5%. This affords the ultimate in glare
control and allows a high degree of solar heat-gain control.
Because
of the unique zip side-guide system, the automatic vent
windows can be left to run without risk of the fabric being
blown out of the side guides.
Blind
two: this blind is a 100% blackout fabric, again from
Mermet (UK). The fabric type we decided upon was Flocke
white, which is not only blackout, but also has the effect
of a normal plaster ceiling when closed.
The
system operates using Somfy technology and is hard-wired
to the control room.
If
you have a Special Project that is being watered down in
design terms, on the grounds that it might be too difficult
to achieve, why not give us a call?
We'll
quickly let you have an expert, but unbiased opinion on
how the project can be achieved. You'll also receive a cost
calculation that will be hard and fast.
We
are waiting for your call.
