SPECIAL
PROJECTS 4
The
Dome (The Trafford Centre) Manchester
The
client requirement was to create an office and new boardroom
beneath a glass dome, in which the Chairman would be based.
Consequently,
we supplied 12 blinds for the dome, plus one for the glass
stairwell. Not only are the blinds shaped, but also follow
the curve of the windows.
Each
of the blinds is 100% blackout and elevates from bottom
to top, rising from a hidden shelf.
The
blinds operate in groups of three to track the sun. They
also work as a group of 13 for total blackout.
For
acoustics reasons, the motors operating the blinds are hidden
more than three metres above the blinds. They produce no
measurable noise level when operating.
The
fabric we used for the blinds was Mermet Flocke, chosen
for its soft look, tensile strength and acoustic value.
This
was a flagship project for IBS; and one from which we take
a certain satisfaction.

If
you have a Special Project that is being watered down in
design terms, on the grounds that it might be too difficult
to achieve, why not give us a call?
We'll
quickly let you have an expert, but unbiased opinion on
how the project can be achieved. You'll also receive a cost
calculation that will be hard and fast.
We
are waiting for your call.
